Top 5 Dubai Locations I Shot in the Past 5 Years
Updated: Nov 3, 2020
Dubai is a dream place for photographers. Its futuristic skyline, sprawling metropolis, long shoreline and beaches, and its unique amalgamation of modern and traditional all make for perfect imagery that will certainly leave a lasting impression on viewers. It is no surprise that Dubai has been voted the third most Instagrammable place in the world. Here is a list of the top five locations in Dubai that I photographed over the past five years.
Dubai Marina is certainly my all-time favorite place. It is an artificial canal city that combines so many residential towers. It is also a touristic hot spot that comes alive specially at night when visitors stroll around the area to enjoy the spectacular views and the varying cuisines served in its countless restaurants.
Downtown Dubai/Burj Khalifa
Downtown Dubai is a large scale urban development that is home to Burj Khalifa, the tallest tower in the world, in addition to the Dubai Mall, one of the biggest, if not the biggest, shopping centers worldwide, and of course, the famous dancing Dubai Fountains.
Standing at an astonishing 828 meters of height, the centerpiece of this entire development is the Burj Khalifa, which is the main attraction that tourists from across the globe flock in hundreds of thousands each year to see and enjoy its architecture and the stunning fireworks display that takes place on new year’s eve each year.
Bluewaters Island/Dubai Eye
Bluewaters is a man-made island that has become a new destination of choice for Dubai’s residents and visitors. It offers unrivaled panoramic views of the Jumeirah Beach Residence skyline and houses residential buildings, retail stores and an eclectic mix of restaurants. Bluewaters is also home to Dubai Eye (or Ain Dubai in Arabic), which is the world’s tallest observation wheel that is due to open later this year and will offer a bird’s eye view of the Dubai skyline from a height of 250 meters.
Palm Jumeirah/The Pointe
The Palm Jumeirah is an artificial archipelago in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, created using land reclamation. It provides clear and unparalleled views of Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa and the Dubai skyline. It also houses The Pointe, a modern development that combines a top selection of restaurants and entertainment activities that attract visitors from Dubai and the surrounding emirates.
Dubai Water Canal/Tolerance Bridge
This is one of my most favorite photography places. It is an artificial canal that was completed in 2016 and that offers walkways, cycle paths and real estate developments under construction. It also features the Tolerance Bridge, a unique architecture that symbolizes the UAE’s spirit of tolerance.
Time for a Timelapse Video!
Whenever I go on a photography stint, I make sure to take timelapse videos and combine them in one video to showcase the urban beauty of Dubai and the UAE in general. This timelapse video features some of the locations that I photographed in Dubai and Abu Dhabi over the past few years.
